A gastric balloon is a minimally invasive weight loss treatment in which a balloon is placed inside the stomach to help create a feeling of fullness and reduce food intake.<\/span><\/p>

If your Body Mass Index (BMI) is above 30, a gastric balloon may be an effective option for achieving long-term weight loss and helping manage conditions such as type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure.<\/span><\/p>

Using an endoscope for guidance, a soft silicone balloon is inserted through the mouth and into the stomach while deflated. Once it is in the correct position, it is filled with a sterile saline solution.<\/span><\/p>

Although uncommon, there are also some more serious potential risks. One of them is balloon deflation, which may cause the balloon to move through the digestive tract and potentially create a blockage.<\/span><\/p>
